The Kenya Defense Forces have been at the front line in ensuring that there is peace in Eastern Congo which has for many years been at war with the M23 rebels. The KDF were deployed under the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission about a month ago and they have been doing well.
Reports have emerged that this festive season the KDF have intensified their operations in the entire region of Eringeti. This is because the area is more vulnerable to attacks from the M23 than any other region in Eastern DRC.
"The Kenyan Contingent deployed under the United Nations Organisation Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo has intensified patrols in the general area of Eringeti, Eastern- DRC this festive season," a report from a trusted source said.
Photos shared on Facebook showed armed officers standing on the roads as locals walked freely. At some point the soldiers interacted with the locals and shared with them this festive season.
