Recce Squad Company is a Special Forces unit of the GSU with its headquarters located in Ruiru. Due to its secretive nature in how they execute their operations, their number remains unknown.
However, their results speak louder in all their missions following very rigorous training that the "normal" man cannot stand. The group was first known during the Westgate attack by the Al Shabaab.
Recce squad training is done in Kenya and abroad. They first attend the basic GSU training school in Embakasi. Thereafter, the best in academic and field performance undergo a further 7 month specialized training.
They then undergo highly regarded military training in countries such as America and United Kingdom. Once trained, they can be compared with the British SAS and America’s Delta Force.
After completion of the rigorous training, they are deployed in three different units: the Sky Marshal unit, the Crisis Response Team and the Rendition Operation team.
