The Recce squad is one of the most feared special forces in Kenya. After training which can be compared to the US most feared force, The Delta Force. The squad is only used on special assignments when need calls. They are well known for facing attacks head on leaving no space for retaliation with Swift movements and knowing when to attack. The soldiers also ensures safety and casualty evacuation happens as fast as possible as witnessed in the Garissa University Terrorist attack and the DusitD2 complex terror attack.
The members of the Recce squad are chosen from the General Service Unit recruits who perform best at the recruitment in Embakasi training grounds. The selected undergo special training for 7months before heading abroad in the USA,Israel and UK for further studies.
Due to the sensitivity of their operations, their number is unknown to the public. The dpecial training they undergo includes anti-terrorism, security of critical installations, sky marshalling, detonating and handling explosives and rescue operations.[Standard]
