Kenya Defence Forces Reveal What They are Planning for President Uhuru Before Ruto's Swearing

Kenya Defence Force will on Friday, September 9, hold a farewell ceremony for outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta.

President Kenyatta is the Commander-In-Chief of the Defence Forces. In a statement, Colonel public affairs and KDF spokesperson Esther Wanjiku said the event was in line with the military traditions

“This is in line with the military tradition and custom to hold a farewell ceremony for the Commander-In-Chief of Defence Forces,” she said.

This happens days before the swearing of His Excellency the incoming Head of State president William Ruto which will take place next week on Tuesday at the Moi International Stadium in Kasarani Nairobi.

This comes at a time when it has emerged that Uhuru Kenyatta has not yet accepted that his deputy William Ruto will be his successor even after his victory was approved by the Supreme Court.

Addressing a meeting of Parliamentarians of the Umoja One Kenya Alliance held yesterday in Kajiado County, President Kenyatta said he believes the alliance's presidential candidate Raila Odinga won the August 9 election.

Some of Mr Odinga's allies are blaming President Kenyatta for what they say is not using his influence fully to help their coalition win. According to Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino, President Kenyatta may have played Mr Odinga.

“Dad, you will always be my hero. They were just playing you. It was a fraud, but we will live to fight another day,” Mr Owino said a few hours before the Supreme Court delivered its verdict on Monday.

Some members of Azimio feel that the coalition failed with poor strategies and arrangements, especially for not having agents in all polling stations.

In the ODM party, some of Mr Odinga's people blame Suna East MP Junet Mohammed and former Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho.
