One passenger died at the spot with 10 others sustaining major injuries. One of the buses stuck in mud as it tried to escape from the shooting site.
The other bus over turned as it tried to accelerate from the site. The terrorists escaped to the Kenya Somalia border.
"The buses were headed to Mandera town when gunmen believed to be al Shabaab militants sprayed them with bullets", star reports.
No police officers turned up immediately as station was not near. The terrorists shot to their fullfilment after which they escaped.
What saved the Kenyans was that the terrorists did not enter the buses. They sprayed the bullets from outside and this caused the few fatalities witnessed.
Officers went to the crime scene and helped take injured passengers to the nearby Hospital.
