Fear In Nigeria As Boko Haram Nears Abuja City

In a remote district in Niger State, the Boko Haram fighters hoisted the Islamic group's flag and seized the wives of fleeing residents. ''I am confirming that we have Boko Haram elements in Niger State, around Kaure. They have taken over the territory...They have installed their flag,'' said the Niger State governor Bello in a widely circulated video. During a visit to an internally displaced persons camp in the state capital Minna, the governor disclosed that over3,000 people have been ousted from their communities by the terrorist group and other local criminal gangs.

The governor warned that terrorist gang infiltration into Kaure, a rural community in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State poses a huge security threat to Nigeria's capital city, Abuja. ''The Boko Haram are trying to use this area as their home just like they did in Sambisa. Sambisa is far away from Abuja but Kaure is just a two hours drive to Abuja. So nobody is safe anymore...not even Abuja,'' governor Bello said in his speech.
