All About The IED Bomb Used in Lamu to Allegedly Blow up a Vehicle Containing Five KDF Soldiers

IED, or otherwise known in full as Improvised Explosive Device is a type of a bomb that is home made. The bomb can be made from the simplest of materials and assembled together before being deployed in preferably a road.

It doesn't take a lot of education to put together this type of bomb. However, it can be highly dangerous and its handling is usually of very extreme care as the slightest disturbance can trigger it.

Five Kenya Defense Forces soldiers are feared dead in Lamu after the vehicle they were in ran through an IED. We are yet to get more details on that and we will keep you updated.

The Improvised Explosive Device is a specialty of terrorist groups like Al Qaeda and Al Shabaab. This particular one that has allegedly killed KDF soldiers can be credited to the Al Shabaab.

An IED will completely destroy a vehicle from below and noticing them can be quite hard. However, a bomb squad can disarm it if it is found out.

An IED can also be disposed off through detonation in a safe place. This is a very dangerous weapon that terrorists have perfected through the years.
