Police are investigating a case soldiers from The Uganda People's Defence Force (UPDF) on 4th January at night, raided Lumuli Police Station in Ndejje Parish on Entebbe Road, Wakiso District and put the officers on duty at gunpoint before rescuing their fellow soldiers who had been detained for allegedly erecting illegal road block at Kakoola village in Ndejje Parish.

Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesman, Assistant Superintendent of Police Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed that they are investigating the aggravated robbery and also aiding suspects to escape from lawful custody.
The victims who were robbed by the military officers reported the case at the police station after which police officers were duspatched. Upon seeing a police car, the suspects allegedly fired several bullets in the air.
The police officers however, stood their ground and confronted the suspects and disarmed them before arresting then and escorting them to the police station.
According to the reports, after their arrests, Toyota Land Cruiser occupied by eight armed soldiers arrived at the Police Station, the armed soldiers demanded that the police handover the officers immediately, however the police officers attempted refusing before being put at gun point after which they removed their suspected colleagues from the police custody.
According to the police reports, the leaders of the group that raided the police station were identified as Tonny Opio and another as Pius Lutaya.
After escaping with their colleagues, they reportedly proceeded to a police station where they reported that suspects were injured and needed to be given first aid. However, they did not disclose to police the health facility the suspects were being taken.
