The Kenya Navy is one of the services naval of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) that protect our borders against water borne aggression and plays an integral role in guarding the blue economy.
Touring the naval headquarters in Mtongwe to assess the capability of their operations, I was received by Major General Jimson Longiro Mutai - Commander, Kenya Navy.
The team he led was glad to showcase their skills and modern test equipment that included special operations, warships and dive boats. Furthermore, I visited the Naval training college, The Kenya Shipyard Limited (KSL) a subsidiary of the KDF offering a wide range of maritime services including ship building , Enginering etc
With a sea tour to wrap up my visit, I was reassured of the safety of our waters.
In the words of President Theodore Roosevelt, 'A good Navy is not a provocation to war. It is the surest guaranty of peace'. Peace such as is in the White of our national flag and the Kenya Navy uniform.
