Today, March 17th, IG Eng. Japhet Koome spent the majority of his day at the Mokowe General Service Unit (GSU) Camp in Lamu, interacting with National Police Service Officers.
The NPS issued a lengthy report via social media in which the IG expressed gratitude to the officers for their dedication, particularly in their efforts to return Lamu County to normalcy.
According to NPS, IG Koome encouraged the offices to maintain their dedication and emphasized that NPS is prepared to offer them the support they require to safeguard and protect the people of Lamu.
It is important to know that al-Shabaab militants based in Somalia have carried out multiple attacks in Lamu County, one of the counties in the country.
The militants have been entering the coastal region via Boni Forest, where they have been launching fatal attacks against police, soldiers, and civilians.
Yet, due to the large number of security agents from various agencies, the frequency of attacks has decreased dramatically.
