President William Ruto has issued a stern warning in reaction to the bandit attack in Turkana County that left 11 people dead.

In the early-morning raid by alleged Pokot livestock rustlers on a village in Namariat near Kakitetei, eight police officers, a local chief, and two civilians were slain.

In a social media message, The head of state addressed the assault and said that his administration will not put up with livestock rustling.

Dr. Ruto emphasized that he had given security guards specific instructions on how to handle the perpetrators of the terrible crime.

Bruno Shioso, speaking on behalf of the National Police Service, claimed on Saturday that the assassinated officers were looking for alleged Pokot community members who had earlier raided a village and stolen livestock.

More police officers have been dispatched in the interim to assist the military's search for the bandits who are still at free on the ground.
