Tributes To Lieutenant Major General Francis Ogolla, The Deputy Chief Of Defense Forces (Photos)

The Kenya Defense Forces play an important role in the country in protecting our borders and providing essential security services in the country. They operate under the command of the Commander- in- Chief (CIC), a five- star general, Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) General Robert Kibochi who is the second in command, followed by Lieutenant General Francis Ogolla, Deputy Chief of Defense Forces.

Major General Francis Omondi Ogolla was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General and on July 23, 2021, was appointed Deputy Chief of Defense Force by former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Lieutenant Colonel Francis Omondi Ogolla joined the Kenya Defense Forces on 24 April 1984 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 6 May 1985 and assigned to the Kenya Air Force.

He trained as a fighter pilot and pilot instructor with the USAF. He has also trained in other areas such as photo reconnaissance, counter- terrorism and accident investigation.

He graduated from École Militaire de Paris and the Kenya National Defense College. Got a diploma in International Studies and Military Science, BA in Political Science, Rhino Conflict and Peace Studies (Master of Arts in International Studies, University of Nairobi) from Egerton University.

He was promoted to the rank of Major General and became the Commander- in- Chief of the Kenyan Air Force on 15 July 2018, serving for three years. Prior to that, he held various training, command and staff positions including Deputy Chief of Staff of the Kenya Air Force, Commander Laikipia Air Base, Commander Tactical Fighter Wing, Chief Flight Instructor at the Kenya Air Force Flight Training School and Kenya Air. Force Operations Division. Headquarters.

He also served as an observer and military intelligence officer in the former Yugoslavia from 1992 to 1993, as chairman of the Military Christian Fellowship from 1994 to 2004, and as chairman of the African Air Chiefs Association from 2018 to 2019.

He is married to Aileen, with whom he has two children. His hobbies are reading and playing golf.
