Freedom fighter Mukami Kimathi, Wife To Late Field Marshall Dedan Kimathi Blesses Raila At Her Home

Freedom fighter Mukami Kimathi, wife to late field marshall Dedan Kimathi blesses ODM leader Raila Odinga at her Nairobi home.

This is after the former Prime minister Raila Odinga today evening visited Mukami Kimathi, at her home in Komarock, Nairobi.

The ODM Party boss Raila said the visit was part of the celebration of Kenya’s heroes ahead of Mashujaa Day.He vowed support for surviving Mau Mau families and all senior citizens.

Mrs Kimathi prayed for the ODM Party chief wishing him God's grace to shed light on his path as he seeks to take over from president Kenyatta next year.

Dedan Kimathi was a rebel field marshal who fought the British colonial agents in Kenya during the Mau Mau rebellion of the 1950s.

The chaotic rebellion remains a controversial part of Kenyan and British history. The rebellion led to the development of a system of detention camps which saw the imprisonment of atleast 80,000 Kikuyu people in Kenya.

Dedan Kimathi was born at Kanyinya in the Nyeri District of Central Province. In 1941, he emerged as a sweeper with the King’s African Rifles (KAR) only to desert the role soon after learning of the terrible conditions African soldiers were subjected to.
