Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has found himself in trouble after questioning ODM leader Raila Odinga's decision to support the new Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA), proposal on sharing of county funds.
Raila on Monday broke his silence on the debate, expressing his support for the new formula, which seeks to allocate funds to counties on the basis of their population, a formula that has been termed discriminatory for less developed area.
In response, the lawyer accused the former Prime Minister of doing injustice to the North Eastern region, otherwise known as the Northern Frontier District, and which leads in isolation and lack of development.
"I TOLD YOU...Raila has thrown NFD and COASTAL Counties under the BUS," he said, after having earlier predicted that Raila will give away the region and the others set to lose, to keep his friendship with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
His remark has landed him in trouble, with Raila's troops coming out to respond, among them ODM blogger Dikembe Disembe, who questioned why he believes Raila should rule in favour of North Eastern.
In a tweet, Disembe argued that Raila has nothing to do with the North Eastern counties' problems, since the truth is that they chose Uhuru over him in 2007, and should direct their blame to the president rather.
"You talk as if NFD voted ODM 90% of the vote. I can cry for Voast but NFD must stop being purchased at clan level WHOLESALE. You people voted for Jubilee to take care of your interests, and you were in court defending that vote. This is hypocrisy but we get it," he said.
His sentiments were echoed by former Homa Bay senatorial aspirant and Raila aide Silas Jakakimba, who pointed out that Raila never, at any point, directly endorsed the new formula.
According to him, the leader urged senators to go for what favours Kenyans, stating that Ahmednasir's remarks amount to incitement and is probably trying to incite the Somali community against him (Raila).
"Ahmednasir Abdullahi :I hereby ‘report’ you to NCIC for incitement. But first, there are many folks who couldn’t quite gather a thing from the PM Raila Odinga ‘s rather very clear statement-but Senators can. They will use it to make a decision equitably beneficial to ALL Kenyans," he said.
