"Wako na Bunduki Nzito Kuliko za Askari" Natembeya Says as Insecurity Rises in Laikipia

George Natembeya has revealed why the Laikipia Bandits have become difficult to control. According to him, the bandits have more powerful weapons compared to those of the security officers sent to curb insecurity in the area.

Natembeya says that the bandits own M16 rifles while most officers use the AK7 ones which are relatively less powerful compared to the M16. He was speaking in a security meeting that was convened to discuss the state of security in Laikipia and find feasible ways of curbing it.

This comes as armed bandits have killed at least seven people in the Olmoran area following the incessant attacks by them. However, police officers have launched a search for the bandits and urged locals to tip them with information that can lead to their arrest.

George Natembeya says that the powerful weapons are suspected to be smuggled in by suspected thugs. He added that the bandits might have also acquired the M16 rifles from foreigners who visit the area for training.
