Residents along Lamu-Garissa highway were today Sunday treated to an Al Shabaab attack that destroyed properties valued in millions. The attack was in form of explosives detonated at a Chinese company early in the morning. Prior to the attack, rumors had gone round of plans to attack by the militia group. According to a report seen on Kenyans.co.ke the attack was on a Chinese company by the name China Communications Construction Company that was in charge of the current construction project at Omolo-Bodhei along the Lamu-Garissa Highway. It is however reported that no casualties were a victim of the attack.

Confirming the incident, security agencies in the area gave the following statement, "Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mujahidin terrorists fired and detonated explosives at a Chinese Construction Company parking lot & subsequently destroyed 8 trucks( Baragoni-Bodhei Rd)," This comes at a time when the security operations in Lamu have been heightened following previous attacks that have claimed lives of many more Kenyans. The militia group is said to be hiding in the Boni forest. Recently about 15 Al Shabaab's were killed in the same area and the operations are still ongoing. We hope that residents of the area will soon enjoy the peace that comes with good security. Thank you.
