The family of Musharaf Abdalla, one if the terrorism convicts who escaped from Kamiti Maximum prison before being nabbed at Kitui has said they are yet to understand what happened to their good son they knew.
“Alikuwa mtoto mzuri, tena alikuwa anakuja kufunza kwa msikiti hapa. Akitoka Mumias kusoma, anafika hapa awaswalishe kisha ndio arudi nyumbani.” she said.
The family maintains that regardless of what their son has been convicted of, he remains their loyal son who had passion in religion and faith.
Abdalla's step-mother Khadija Shibwabo on her side added that he was a man of few words who loved religion.
“Alikuwa hana maneno nyingi, akiongea anakuambia maneno ya dini.” she said.
According to Hamisi (mother) her son was forced to drop out of school in class 5 at the time his dad had died and life had become hard.
“Akatoka akaenda Homa Bay kusoma dini, madrassa, akarudi hapa akasoma Mumias muslim, akatoka akaenda Muthurwa akamaliza miaka tatu akaja akapotea hapo Muthurwa,” she stated.
She found Abdalla in the third month since she began looking for him where he would leave for Watamu in Kilifi for his madrassa.
“Nikarudi nikakaa nikashukuru Mungu, nikasema Mungu alinipa bure na tena Mungu akipenda ataonekana, kama alipanga basi,” she said.
“Kutoka siku hiyo tuliskia tu kwa redio akitangazwa ati amepatikana kama ako Al Shabaab, alafu juzi mtu alinipigia tu simu kutoka Nairobi ati amebomoa mahali walikuwa wakatoroka," Shibwabo added.
Abdalla was charged with possession of dangerous fireams including explosives and ammunitions, where he was sentenced for 22 years.
