A case has been taken to court to have dual citizens be allowed into joining the Kenya Defence Forces. However, the petition has been dismissed bearing in mind the work of military officers involves securing the borders of the country.

Kenya Defence Forces has a provision that citizens with dual citizenship are not allowed to join the military. It's a matter that has been opposed by government vehemently for citizens with dual citizenship are really not true Patriots of Kenya.

The judge ruled that indeed, the military requires a person who is fully patriotic to one particular country. It's for this reason that the court has declined to allow dual citizens be able to join the military.
