On January 15,2019 Alshabaab militia attacked DusitD2 hotel in Westlands,Kenya and killed 21 people;nineteen were Kenyans, one American and another one was British. The operations took around 19 hours and the security forces managed to rescue around 700 people from the complex.
After the attack , National Police service was lauded for doing a good job unlike in the case of Westgate mall and Garissa University attack whereby many were killed and in Westgate mall, police force was accused of looting .
One British ex-army has however claimed to have been largely responsible for rescue operation in DusitD2 attack. Christian Craig in his upcoming book titled ,One Man In claims to have single handedly fought the terrrorists. His allegations has however been dismissed by Counter Terrorism Policing Kenya terming it as classic show of colonial hangovers.
"In classic show of colonial hangovers, #British ex army officer #ChristianCraighead claims he singlehandedly fought #Nairobi's #Dusitterrorattack #terrorists.Lets dismiss his book based on deceit & continue hailing our Police led by elite #GSURecce & #KDF for killing terrorists." Counter terrorism Policing Kenya tweeted.
This sentiments by the agency has also been echoed by many Kenyans who express their displeasure over the same.
