5 Commandments In The KDF No Soldier Can Risk Breaking

Being in the forces means that one has to behave appropriately and paramount discipline is also observed by all.

During training soldiers like all other forces are trained to keep secrets even under extremely wanting situations.

Some of these commandments may land one in trouble if broken.

In Kenya, the requirements to join the army are mainly based on physical attributes and one's educational background.


1. Be a Kenyan citizen with no dual citizenship 2. Minimum KCSE mean grade D (plain) Have 3. a valid Kenyan National Identity Card and, Pin Certificate Applicants must be between 18 to 26 years Applicants must have a clean criminal record Applicants must meet all the medical and fitness requirements for KDF recruitment.

4. The minimum height for male applicants is 1.60m (5ft 3in) and for women, 1.52m (5ft) Minimum Weight for male candidates is 54.55 Kg (120 lb) and for females counterparts 50 Kg (110 lb).

5. Female candidates must NOT be pregnant at the time of recruitment and during the entire training duration.


1 Leaking out crucial information - intelligence information in the army is key to winning any war. It, therefore, has to be protected by all means. No soldier can afford to leak any information out.

2 Negotiating with terrorists - as a standard rule in any army, there is no negotiating with terrorists. An enemy must be neutralized.

3 Turning against seniors - this is called insubordination and is heavily punishable. A junior soldier must respect a senior soldier.

4 Being away from duty without notice.

5 Heavily posting on social media with military uniform.
