The US Navy is constantly purchasing more modern military equipment so as to ensure it can fight future conflicts and win. In addition to that modern and lethal military equipments will ensure that America's adversaries such as Russia, China and Iran will think twice before threating its interests.
Recently, the US Navy commissioned a brand new nuclear-powered fast-attack submarine. The submarine is a Block IV Virginia class. According to Air Power News, "The US Navy commissioned the SSN 795 Hyman G. Rickover at General Dynamics Electric Boat shipyard facility in Groton, Connecticut. The SSN-795 is a Block IV Virginia class attack submarine."
The Virginia-class is the United States Navy's latest submarine model, which incorporates the latest in stealth, intelligence gathering and weapons systems technology. A single Virginia-class submarine costs 2.8 billion US Dollars. The US Navy currently has a total of 19 active Virginia-class submarines with a plan to have an additional 47 Virginia-class submarines.
