Fear has engulfed Rutshuru in the Eastern region of Democratic Republic of Congo as M23 and Congolese Army, FARDC Seeks control of the region. Almost all the residents in the area have fled. This is according to the information shared by Radio Okapi.
The population remaining in Kishishe and its surroundings, in the Bambo group, territory of Rutshuru (North Kivu) fear possible fighting between the FARDC and the M23 rebels.
Sources report that the FARDC army has constituted an important lock to prevent the M23 from cutting the Rwindi-Kibirizi-Nyanzale axis.

Radio Okapi reports that most of the territory has seen residents flee the area following a spate of killings perpetrated by the M23 rebels.
It is reported that M23 rebels had killed at least 60 residents who had hid themselves inside a church including children who had taken refuge in the church with their parents.
Tension continues to brew up as peace talks in Nairobi is ongoing to find a lasting solution to the problem.
