The M23 rebels have come out to respond to the combined armed forces working in DR Congo after there stronghold territories were allegedly hit by jets and other heavy weapons on Wednesday. Lawrence Kanyuka, the spokesperson of the rebel group said in a statement released that the DRC military used fighter jets and rocket propelled grenades to attack their territory. He also said that internally displaced people were targeted in the attack as some were affected.
This Wednesday, December 28"h, 2022, the DRC Government's alliance utilized weighty mounted guns and contender jets SUKHOI to purposely send off assaults focusing on the uprooted populaces (IDP) who have looked for asylum in the region under our influence, escaping exactions committed against them by the said alliance," read the explanation to some extent.
In the long explanation the revolutionaries said that they will guard themselves and other weak gatherings by getting back at the M23 rebels and some other powers supporting the DR Congo government.
The M23 rebel announced that its fighters would withdraw from one of the key towns it had been occupying in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, with a promise to retreat from its strategic front-line position. The rebel group, in a statement on Friday, said it would withdraw from its position in the town of Kibumba, which is about 20 kilometres (12 miles) from Goma, a commercial hub in the North Kivu province which the M23 have been holding sway after over running the town in their first big insurrection in 2012.
