The first in command William Ruto and the former president Uhuru Kenyatta who is leading peace convoy in Democratic Republic of Congo have received good news from Kenya Defense Force and East African Regional Force after M23 rebels surrender another territory.
According to the reliable source from East Africa, the Congolese rebels have today surrendered and pulled out if Rumangabo a military camp in Rutshuru, North Kivu where they had occupied in adherence to ceasefire under regional arrangements. This however becomes the second territory the group surrenders under East African communities.
“The M23 remains determined to implement the resolutions of the Luanda mini-summit and supports the region’s efforts to find peace in the DRC,” the group says in a statement.
This comes after the president and former president Uhuru Kenyatta held talks with a group of the rebels in Nairobi to surrender and support peace in the eastern part of DRC. However on December 23 another group withdrew from Kibumba just about 25 kilometers from the city of Goma in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
