As one of his campaign promises, Elgeyo Marakwet (EMC) Governor Wesley Rotich has stood true to his words after delivering a security gadget "drone" that will be missioned in the banditry-prone areas of Kerio Valley.
In a meeting were in attendance were security officials from Elgeyo Marakwet and his CECs, Governor Rotich launched a modern drone that will be used for security surveillance in Kerio Valley.
In his statement, Rotich said that the new drone has been uniquely designed and can move to a radius of 10 kilometers. Also, modern gadget has the capability of operating in both dark and cloudy times.
Wesley also promised to put into training the officers who will be operating the drone.
"Today I delivered a modern drone to security officers in Marakwet East which will be used for security surveillance in the area. The infrared-capable gadget which was tested today can travel to a radius of 10 kilometres and can also operate at night and cloudy conditions. This will help our security officers monitor movements of bandits in the area. Initially, our security officers have been blindly tracking the bandits," says Governor Rotich.
