Armed rebels in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have today suffered a huge blow after the military gunned down several militants

It has been confirmed 28 combatants were put out of action after a heavy exchange of fire with the Ugandan military.

The UPDF Spokesperson took to social media where he confirmed that the ongoing Operation SHUJA in DRC had resulted in the killing of the militants.

The UPDF Spokesperson also noted that among the 28 militants they had neutralized, one is suspected to be a foreigner and an expert in making Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs)

"In the on-going Operation SHUJA, Preliminary results show that our forces harvested the following: 08smgs, 28 combatants were Put Out of Action. And amongst the 28 there is one foreigner or who seems to be an IED expert or commander," he said.

It should be noted that UPDF and the Congolese army, FADRC launched an offensive mission dubbed "Operation Shujaa" in November 2021, targeting the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) in the thick DRC forests.

For starters, ADF is an Islamist rebel group in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, it is considered a terrorist organisation by the Ugandan government.
