Reactions As Photos Of Uhuru Arriving In Army Barracks In Style To Celebrate KDF Day Surface Online

Shortly after unveiling East Africa's first molecular imaging center in Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral Hospital, Uhuru Kenyatta and first lady Margeret Kenyatta headed to Kahawa barracks in Kiambu county. The president was warmly welcomed by a parade of the Kenya defense forces to lead the country in marking KDF Day.

According to the information shared on the State House Kenya official page, KDF Day is celebrated annually to recognize acts of valor and gallantry by Kenyan soldiers. The day is also important and provided an avenue to honor those who died while defending their motherland.

The government started celebrating this day in 2011 and this year's celebration marks the 10th anniversary. The year 2011 is also remembered as it is the time Kenyan troops entered Somalia in pursuit of al-Shabaab terrorists under Operation Linda Nchi.
