Breaking:KDF Thwart Planned Al-Shabaab Attack In Parts Of Kenya As 11 Rifles, Bullets Recovered

Kenyan Defense Forces in Somalia foiled an al-Shabaab militant attack and recovered 11 rifles loaded with bullets.

The forces were acting on a tip when they encountered and apprehended a suspect who was carrying the weapons in the Burahache area, a few kilometers from the Kenya-Somalia border in Mandera.

According to reports, the suspect is a member of the terror group's logistical unit.

They allegedly planned a large-scale attack on troops stationed at a nearby base.

There was also concern that the terrorists could have traveled into Kenya with the weapons and carried out a deadly mission.

According to sources familiar with the operation, the recovery was seen as significant and had hampered the gang's plans. This comes after allegations that militants were planning an attack sparked increased attention in several sections of the country.

With Ramadan coming to an end and rains falling across parts of the Kenya-Somalia border, there are fears that terrorists will dispatch remnants with orders to strike certain regions.

To foil any such schemes, security has been stepped up in major cities.Terrorists have started attacking targets using improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

Officials say this demonstrates that the threat of IEDs persists in a specific area of responsibility.Officials claim that terrorists are using the low-cost technique to attack their objectives by putting it near forwarding operating bases or vital supply routes.
