The Kenya Defence Forces troops serving in Somalia under the African Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), on 28 September 2021, donated 50 beds and mattresses to students in Kismayo.
Addressing the local administration, elders and teachers, at the New Airport FOB, Colonel Leonard Makunga emphasized the importance of education to the youth urging them that guns can kill terrorists but education kills terrorism.
The local administration and residents were grateful and thanked the KDF troops for their gesture and assured them of their continued support in the fight against terrorism in order to restore peace and stability in Somalia.
Also Shekh Dili Mahadhi Dili, appreciated the KDF soldiers for providing the beds and mattresses saying that the donation came at the right time and will act as a motivation boost for the students to continue with schooling and promote the quality of education at the local communities.
The donations are expected to go along way in empowering the education of women in the war ravaged country.
