The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has opened its television and radio studios to enhance their communication to the public.
Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen Robert Kibochi Tuesday officially opened a newly-constructed Strategic Communications Office at the Defence Headquarters in Nairobi, which will house the studios.
The new office block has a state-of-the-art fully-equipped television and radio studios for various productions that will enable a continuous flow of information to Kenyans and the wider audience, KDF said.
The Ministry of National Defense said: "We view strategic communications as an important activity that supports national interests as well as future military operations."
The KDF Communications Department was established in 2009 as a public relations department and over time tells the story of the KDF, as the KDF did in Operation Peace. In 2021, KDF Command will establish strategic communications to achieve communications goals in an ever-changing threat landscape.
At the ceremony, CDF representatives noted that information is a tool of violence and the efforts of the Strategic Communications Group Office to inform and shape public opinion on KDF's activities and commitments, noting that KDF is committed to effectively communicating all KDF operations. admitted.
