Downed Airman

A few years ago, while the Kenya Air Force was fighting in Somalia, a Kenyan pilot went missing in the southern part of Somalia.

The pilot who was flying an F5 Fighter Jet went missing after his jet crashed after developing mechanical problems.

The wreckage of the fighter jet was found but the pilot was nowhere to be seen in the hostile territory occupied by the Al Shabaab.

The pilot, according to reports, had successfully ejected from his jet before it hit the ground.

This event is what culminated to the formation on the Special Forces, Rapid Deployment Squadron that is tasked with ensuring that such valuable airmen are rescued on time.

The Rapid Deployment Squadron has been able to perform many such tasks as well as helping locals across the country in times of need.
