KDF Soldier Released on Bail After Denying Defilement Charges

A KDF police officer by the name Elly Kipkoech, who had been arraigned in Eldoret for allegedly defiling a class seven girl repeatedly in the bush, has been released on Cash bail of Sh. 50,000 after denying all charges branded against him before the Chief Magistrate Dennis Mikoyan.

According to the court documents, Kipkoech is said to have defiled the minor at Langas, Uasin Gishu County repeatedly without using any protection.

Kipkoech also denied a second count of committing an indecent act with a child.

Mikoyan directed that the soldier would be released from police custody on Sh100,000 bond, with an alternative cash bail of Sh50,000.

The statements which was recorded in Langas police station indicate that the accused officer said to have defiled the alleged girl repeatedly in the bush, after arresting her for allegedly violating Covid 19 protocols.

When interrogated, the accused officer said he had arrested the victim for accusations that she was not wearing a face mask on that particular day.

“The officer is said to have handcuffed the student for not wearing a mask but instead of taking him to the police station for booking, he diverted her to open field where he defiled her several times, before forcing her to suck his manhood.” The police officer stationed at Uasin-Gishu town said.

The mother of the victim complained saying that her daughter went missing at around 3 o'clock in the evening, after coming back from school.

She waited for the girl to come back home that evening, but she didn't. She went around looking for her for many hours, but the whole search went in vain.

After long search, she received the news that the girl was seen at around police station. The mother walked to police station accompanied by her friends and close relatives, where they found her daughter with the alleged officer.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) the victim had on that fateful day arrived home late and reported to her mother about the unfortunate incident in which the officer allegedly held her hostage and defiled her.

“The minor who went home at around 8:30pm last night, told her worried mother that she had reported home late because she had been held hostage by a man who took advantage of her,” the DCI said in a report issued on Sunday.

“Upon further interrogation, the mother noticed blood stains on her daughter’s undergarments and pleaded with her to reveal the identity of the perpetrator,” added the report.

The suspect is further said to have fled to an estate within Eldoret town, where he was nabbed by detectives and positively identified by the class seven pupil after a digital and cyber forensics tracing operation.

The detectives are said to have arrested the officer from his hideout in an estate in Eldoret, placed him in custody before finally charging him in court.

The accused who is of the rank of Private underwent medical tests with the minor at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.

The medical results are expected to be used as crucial evidence during the trial.

The DCI also noted that sexual offences in the country have been on the rise while reiterating its commitment to bring perpetrators to face the law regardless of the position they hold in society.
