
A vehicle has run over an improvised Explosive device in Lamu, county commissioner Irungu Macharia has confirmed the sad news.
According to the commissioner, Two people were killed as a result of the incident. The other person in the vehicle was critically injured.

"TWO KILLED, 1 critically injured after their vehicle ran over an IED in Lamu East; Lamu County Commissioner Irungu Macharia confirms."
The county commissioner has not revealed if militia group Al-shaabab, which is known to use IEDs is responsible for the latest attack.
Monday morning, Al-shaabab militants hijacked a vehicle which was bound for Garissa from Meru. The militia men also took with them 3 occupants of the car.
The Kenya counter terrorism police unit confirmed the incident which happened earlier today.

"#AlShaabab suspects hijacked a car ferrying miraa from #Meru to Liboi.They offloaded the miraa and fled with the 3 occupants towards #Somalia. Such incidences call for heightened border security and surveillance especially along the #Kenya-Somalia border."
