Ni Kubaya: Two Innocent-Looking Al-Shabaab Seniors Surrender to Authority & Ask For Forgiveness

As it is always said that if you can't beat them, join them or rather if someone is too strong for you to defeat, it is better to be on the same side as them, this is exactly what Al-Shabaab militants are doing after sensing defeat.

Two senior Al-Shabaab operatives have today ditched terrorism and surrendered to authority as forces continue gunning more militants down.

In the recent past, since the month of June started to be precise, more than 200 Al-Shabaab militants have been killed in Somalia.

Commandos from the Somali National Army (SNA) have been ruthless with the militants. The military has continuously carried out offensive attacks, targeting the militants from the hideouts and their bases.

Since most of the operations have turned out to be very successful, some Al-Shabaab militants are now considering surrendering as one of the options for their survival.

This Friday, two more militants surrendered and asked for forgiveness from the military.

According to media reports from the Horn of Africa, Mowliid Omar and Mohamed Nur have surrendered to Somali National Army in the Galgaduud region.

They are said to have contacted the military officials before they surrendered and confirmed to the military that they have ditched terrorism and Al-Shabaab ideology.

"Two senior #Al-Shabab operatives have surrendered to Somali National Army in #Galgaduud region on Friday morning. Mowliid Omar and Mohamed Nur contacted the military officials before their defection and said they renounced al-Shabab ideology," read an update from the source.

SNA has been welcoming to terrorists who surrender and renounce Al-Shabaab ideology. Some of the terrorists who reformed were even awarded military jobs.

Colonel Farhan Qarole the current commander in charge of the Mogadishu police force is a former Al-Shabaab militant.
