No Mercy for M23 in Goma as Kenya KDF Team Deploys More Security

Deputy Commander, Kenya Army Major General Peter Muteti has today Saturday 26 November 2022 commissioned the third batch of the main body deployed to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) at Embakasi Garrison, Nairobi. The contingent shall join their colleagues who left the country two weeks ago under the East African Community Regional Force (EACRF).

Maj Gen Muteti said the first batch is making big strides in bringing peace in the Eastern part of DRC and implored the soldiers to be good ambassadors of the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) as has been the custom in all its previous missions.

The East African Community Regional Force (EACRF) commander Major General Jeff Nyagah, MONUSCO Force Commander Lieutenant General Marcos De Sá Affonso Da Costa, and the FARDC 3rd Division Commander Lieutenant General Marcel Mbangu held a consultative meeting in Goma.The meeting acknowledged the necessity for enhancing collaborative approach on operational framework in eastern DRC towards realizing peace and stability.

The troops identified areas of collaboration to restore normalcy in the troubled east. The EACRF Deputy Force Comander Brigadier General Emmanuel Kaputa accompanied by the Kenyan Contigent Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Denis Obiero stated that since deployment, strategic infrastructure have been secured and plans are at advanced stages for further deployment.

Conflict resolution for peace existence is a collective responsibility and therefore, EACRF, governed by the mandate, calls for a holistic approach in realizing peace and stability within the region for socio-economic development.
