Brigadier Yahya Abdi took charge as he led Kenya Navy Base, Mtongwe in marking the 58th Kenya Navy Day at Lieutenant Colonel Kimaro Stadium at the Kenya Navy Headquarters in Mombasa County.
Kenya Navy Day is marked yearly on 14th December to commemorate the date Kenya Navy was established as a Service in the Kenya Defence Forces as well as acknowledge the Navy’s achievements throughout the year.
According to the information shared, Major General Jimson Mutai, Commander Kenya Navy message was read by Brigadier Abdi. The message emphasized on the need to reflect and appreciate the eventful journey and growth that KN has undergone over the decades. Noting that present day KN exists on account of the sacrifice and commitment KN predecessors who laid a strong foundation for generational growth.
During the event, various skits and poems were performed. Service Personnel, both officers and service members engaged in sports activities among them combative display, tug of war and a football match.
