The rebels' official declaration of what will happen in the event of an attack has left the security situation in the DRC in a state of flux.
The rebels have demonstrated their strength by thwarting an attempt to drive them out by force. The rebels demonstrated their skill in a deadly crash that lasted for several hours this morning during a fierce exchange of fire.
Although more information about the crash is still unknown, it is believed to mark the start of a new phase of the conflict after a protracted period of silence during which both the military and the rebels kept a low profile.
As this is happening, Kenya has sent another military force to the conflict-torn Congo. The Congo peace talks, which involve unsettling parties, are currently being held in Kenya. The president reaffirmed Kenya's commitment to bringing peace to the region and the Congo while launching the conference. This has led to an increase in the military that is currently traveling through Kampala to the Congo by road.
