On Saturday, December 3, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the son of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, encouraged DRC conflict negotiators to recognize rebel group leadership.
Negotiators from East Africa were warned by General Muhoozi that the effort to keep the DRC peaceful might not be successful.
Because of this, he pleaded with the EAC leadership to recognize that the M23 rebels had acquired a degree of military maturity that called for recognition.
"General Makenga would be seen immediately if I were still in control of the Land Forces (CLF) (of M23).
"He is an excellent boxer, and I am confident that we could communicate. When we were ready to speak with Joseph Kony and the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA), why didn't M23 show up? Muhoozi inquired.
Uhuru Kenyatta, the former president who was conducting the negotiations as of the time of publishing, has not yet answered to General Muhoozi's demands.
Muhoozi also supported Paul Kagame, the president of Rwanda, who was accused of inflaming the DR Congo issue.
"I serve in the Uganda People's Defence Forces as a four-star general (UPDF). Almost everything on this planet has been seen by me.
However, I feel bad for those who despise General Kagame, my uncle. General Muhoozi warned that eliminating Rwanda required taking on Uganda.
In response to the accusations, President Kagame met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on October 21 to discuss the conflict in the eastern DR Congo.
Kagame said that the negotiations took place against the backdrop of the rising hostilities between the M23 rebel group and the DRC military. Kagame has now distanced himself from the ongoing slaughter in the country.
"I had a fruitful conversation with the UNSG regarding the situation in the eastern DRC. We are putting in place the means and methods to de-escalate the situation and deal with the issues rationally in Nairobi, Luanda, and other international undertakings "Kagame's tweets
Additionally, Kagame alleged that the president of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Felix Tshisekedi, has postponed the 2023 election by taking advantage of the present violence in eastern Congo.
Kagame added, "I'd rather he use other explanations than us if he's seeking for another way to delay the elections."
President William Ruto recently dispatched more troops to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC(Eastern)) to help drive out M23 rebels who are occupying key positions in the mineral-rich North Kivu province
