Reliable and trusted sources have revealed that the M23 rebels in Eastern DRC have agreed to withdraw their forces from the Rumagambo region. KDF general Commander Nyagah in the latest report has revealed that the rebels have promised to find a new place to settle after meeting with the KDF. The report was shared by the spokesperson of the group.
The report comes a few days after the KDF announced that the rebels had already withdrawn from some parts of Eastern DRC. The reports further revealed that the rebels held a peaceful agreement with the KDF to withdraw from the region. Nyagah said that the withdrawal will be systematic and coordinated by the M23 rebels. After leaving the regions will be taken over by the EACRF.
Nyagah met with the leaders of the rebel group on Saturday where they made the agreement. Kibumba which was handed over by the M23 has already been resettled by the locals. More IDPs are expected to return to their homes after the rebels retreat. They will do this by January 5th 2024.
