According to the Lamu commissioner,Irungu Macharia the KDF officers deployed in Lamu were on their routine morning patrol when they met their fate. He told the Nation media group that several KDF officers are feared dead while other several are already receiving treatment after acquiring injuries. It is suspected that the improvised explosive device was planted on the road by a militant group.
The military vehicles which were bring used by the KDF have all been destroyed by the explosive. This incident is one of the most saddening incidents that Kenyans have lost a big number of the KDF. Many families who are related to the KDF in one way or the other are now living in confusing not knowing the kind of news that will reach them as from tomorrow. The identity of those soldiers who have lost their lives together with those who got injuries have not yet been revealed for security reasons and more information about them will be given to their families directly from the ministry of defense.
