The vehicle was sprayed with bullets by the militia who ambushed them on the busy Lamu-Garsen Highway leaving the government vehicle riddled with bullet holes.

Three judges are said to have been shot but managed to escape from the ordeal with their lives despite the terrible odds that were against them.

This afternoon, the Chief Justice of Kenya, Martha Koome, has broken her silence through her Official Twitter Handle where she has expressed disappointment in what happened.

She has also thanked the Inspector General whose officers responded with ease and efficiency, repelling the attack and saving the lives of those that were on board the ill fated vehicle.

The three judges injured were Hon. Rotich, Njue, Sirma, Bett, Mugendi, and Barisa who will be flown to Nairobi for specialized treatment as per the statement by CJ Koome.
