A 22-year-old Al-shabaab Trained Woman nabbed In Nandi County

A woman suspected of having links to the al-Shabaab terrorist group was arrested last night in Tinderet, Nandi County.

A denunciation of the inhabitants to the police officers based at the Soghor police station facilitated the arrest of the 22-year-old woman. Residents were concerned about a woman from Kamalambu village who cohabited with a man but seemed suspicious.

The woman told detectives after her arrest that she had been in Somalia for two years after being allegedly kidnapped by members of the al-Shabab terrorist network in Kilifi in 2019.

“She admitted to having been trained in handling weapons, taking hostages and using explosives, among other skills. The woman is said to have attended the recently concluded KDF recruitment exercise in various centers,” DCI said on Twitter.

Anti-terrorist detectives have since resumed investigations into the case and will seek more information from the suspect.
