The third batch of the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) left the country on 26th September 2022 heading to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The contingent will join the colleagues who left the country two weeks ago on a mission to bring a long-lasting solution to the rebels occupied city of Goma.
Reportedly, the troops were flagged off to DRC by the Deputy Commander, Kenya Army Major General Peter Muteti.
The Kenyan troops will be working under the East African Community Regional Forces (EACRF) in a move to neutralize the M23 rebels who have caused instability in Goma.
In his speech, Maj Gen Muteti asked the soldiers to be good ambassadors of the Kenyan flag by abiding by the law and protecting humanity while on their mission.
He further assured of the troops' ability to perform their mission professionally and credibly.
Apart from Rwanda, other countries in the East African region are expected to send their troops in DRC to combat the M23 rebels.
This move come in months after the Democratic Republic of Congo joined the East African Community on 8th April 2022.
