M23 Rebels in Trouble After South Sudan Sends 750 Troops To DRC's Kivu Province

Thank you again my dear readers and welcome warmly to my daily news updates.

Fierce fighting in the Democratic Republic of Congo DRC in recent months led to the East African Community and Great Lakes Region leaders holding a mini-summit in Luanda Angola to find a way forward on stopping this war.

Many countries agreed to send troops in Eastern DRC in Kivu Province in a bid to stop the quick advancement of March 23 Movement(M23) rebels towards key towns.

Lately, South Sudan's President Salva Kiir has indicated that 750 troops will arrive in eastern DRC to maintain peace. He instructed them to keep order and try hard to protect the civilians and their properties.

In my opinion, this is a good idea and it will keep away M23 fighters who have been attacking innocent Congolese people.

But do you think this will bring a lasting peace solution? The government of DRC headed by President Felix Tshisekedi needs to embark on peace talks and get a lasting solution to this problem.
