Updates: Government Bans Mashujaa Day Celebrations in All the 47 Counties

The Principal Secretary in charge of the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government programs PS Karanja Kibicho has communicated government's decision on Mashujaa Day Celebrations.

According to the tough taking Principal Secretary, no county will be allowed to hold public Mashujaa Day Celebrations over the prevalence of the novel Corona virus infections in the country.

This comes days after the Principal Secretary noted that only 2,000 guests will be allowed to attend this year's Mashujaa Day celebrations on October 20 at the Wang’uru Stadium in Mwea, Kirinyaga County.

Speaking at General Kassam Stadium in Kianyaga in Gichugu Constituency during a leaders' meeting, Kibicho said President Uhuru Kenyatta will be the guest of honour during the celebration to be attended by other heads of state and dignitaries.

"Kirinyaga's Wanguru Stadium is now taking shape. We have assessed the progress of the civil works, and we are satisfied that the construction team is well within the timelines we set in preparation for Mashujaa Day."

It is not yet clear if the Deputy President William Ruto will arrive firing the high profile leaders event that will attract several other high profile leaders.
