We all know that it's not hygienic to share certain personal items such as toothbrushes or nail cutters. In this piece, am going to highlight the other four personal items that you should stop sharing with your friends.
1. Headphones/ earphones
Sharing these items is unhygienic because each person has an ear wax that has a different flora bacteria balance. We risk upsetting the bacteria balance by sharing the headphones. This type of imbalance can cause ear infections. If you have to share earphones always make sure you clean them with hydrogen peroxide to kill the bacteria.
Towels absorb liquid from the body and serve as a breeding area for germs, mold, fungi because of the dampness. Share towels can lead to the transmission of germs and bacteria from one person to another. It's always advisable not to share towels and always remember to hang your towel outside to dry after use.
3. Hair curlers and clips
Sharing any items that come into direct contact with the scalp such as hair curlers and clips can easily spread lice and fungus. If you have to share make sure you clean hair clips and curlers using soapy water and allow them to dry completely in the sun before reusing them again.
4. Lipstick and lip gloss
A couple of diseases such as Herpes can be spread by sharing these items. The responsible virus for this disease can always be on the saliva or mouth mucous membrane even if the rashes have not appeared. To be on the safer side just avoid sharing lipsticks and lip gloss. It's always advisable to invest in a new lipstick if the rash fades away to avoid fresh infections. In addition to that, always wipe the top of the lipstick regularly to prevent dirt and bacteria from accumulating.
