Hoping For The Best But Expecting The Worst

I believe in reincarnation. Not in the traditional sense of being re-introduced to the world after death. My feeling is that I have lived many different lives within this one lifetime. I've also observed keenly that each new incarnation came about after a period of intense physical and/ or emotional pain. In other words, just like childbirth, it hurts to be born. Or reborn. It's literally like learning how to ride a bicycle, it hurts each time you fall and it hurts even more that you have to try and get back up on your feet again.

A lot of crying happens. Death, illness, poverty, breakups, giving up a dream, waking up from a dream, getting fired, substance abuse, rejection, betrayal, public ridicule, getting insulted, getting re-framed,anxiety, clashing egos, arguments, stigma, being the subject of gossip, failure, hangover, losing loved ones, - all these have led to rebirth. To new lives.

Change and impermanence is a fundamental fact of existence. This fact has made suffering inevitable. Sometimes, after the pain is gone, you open your eyes to a life beyond your wildest dreams. That's what happened to me. But I know that this too shall pass. There's a cosmic uterus up ahead, I just can't see it yet and until I see it, I will keep searching.
