Embu Set to host the next Madaraka Holiday

Kenyans normally celebrates Jamhuri day on 12th of December every year. The holiday formally marks the date of the country' s admittance in 1964 into the Commonwealth as a republic and takes its name from the Swahili word Jamhuri to republic of Kenya.

December 12 is also the date when Kenya obtained its independence from Great Britain in 1963. Jamhuri Day has been celebrated on Monday, December 12, 2022.

Kenya is an independent state that is under the leadership of president William Samoei Ruto. Today, the president has graced Jamhuri Day celebrations that have been held at Nyayo Stadium.

The event has been attended by top government leaders from all the three arms of government. Which include the executive, the judiciary and legislature to show their unity in their lines of duty.

While giving his speech to the crowd that had attended the function, the head of state also made some announcement on where the next holiday which will be madaraka holiday. He said that come next year, the Madaraka day celebrations will be held in Embu county that is located in Mt Kenya region. Madaraka Day is always celebrated in the country on 1st June of every year.

Dr Ruto has today graced his first Jamhuri Day national holiday as the president barely three months in office after his swearing in. The other years he was not the head of state rather the vice president.

The president also made his speech that touched on all social economic affairs affecting the citizens. He has also announced that Junior secondary schools will be domiciled in primary schools.

The decision of announcing that the next public holiday will be in Embu looks like he is giving thanks to the people of the central region where he was give more votes than his competitors Raila Odinga of Azimio and Wajackoyah of roots and party.
