Home Remedies For Black Toenails

Toenail fungus is also known as onychomycosis, it is a common fungal infection of toenails. The most common noticeable symptom is a white, brown or yellow discolouration of one or more of your toenails. It may spread and cause the nails to thicken or crack.

Some of the home remedies include the following:

Listerine: it contains ingredients such as menthol, thymol and eucalyptus, which have antibacterial and antifungal properties. This is the reason why it is a common remedy for toenail fungus.

Vinegar: You are required to soak the affected foot in one part of vinegar to two parts of warm water for upto 20 minutes daily.

Garlic: You can treat toenail fungus with garlic by placing chopped or crushed garlic cloves on the affected area for 30 minutes daily.

Change your diet: The healthier the foods you consume the better chance your body has to fight off conditions such as toenail fungus.

Try to give your body the nutrient dense foods it requires by consuming:

✓ Foods rich in Calcium and Vitamin D e.g low fat dairy products.

✓Enough protein to support nail regrowth.

✓Probiotic-rich yoghurt.

✓ A diet rich in essential fatty acids.

✓ Enough iron rich foods to prevent brittle nails.
