The annual cultural festival is scheduled to kickoff starting from Tommorow after a long break that had been caused by covid 19 pandemic . Many guests and visitors are expected to attend.
The festival was launched in 2000, and normally it usually takes place in the Old Town; This is an historical place that was listed in the year 2001 by the United Scientific and Cultural Organisations (UNESCO) as a world heritage site.
The festival organised by the county government of Lamu is usually meant to promote tourism , trade and, culture thar holds an irresistible appeal to visitors .
The Event was to take place in 2020 but cancelled due to Corona virus pandemic . Unlike this year like early before, it will show case the rich culture and heritage of the Swahili people from the Coastal region.Other events held in Lamu includes Malindi Islamic Festival, Lamu Yoga Festival, Lamu painters Festival and Shela hat Contest.
Sitting Lamu Governor Issa Timamy States that he is happy due to the return of the cultural festival after the covid 19 pandemic. He also mentioned that the festival uniquely project the beautiful and diverse local cultures and traditions , adding that it will kick off in style.The main events begin on Thursday and ends on Sunday.
